BMW at the IAA Mobility Motor Show

For BMW and their press conference at the IAA Motorshow in Munich, we produced a segment for the presentation of the new 'E-Mobility Strategy'.

Filmed in San Francisco at BMW's Silicon Valley location for Cologne/Germany's Elastique agency with producer Andrea S., we recruited our LA friend DP Rene J. to realize the storyboard. Despite the usual obstacles -> the look of the film created simultaneously in three world locations, San Francisco's waterfront shrouded in fog, a very tight window and access on location...we turned the project around swiftly and delivered footage on-time to a happy client... Onward!

Reeperbahn Festival 'The Anchor Music Award'

The 'Anchor Award' is a music competition for emerging talent.  We produced video segments and a LIVE stream between New York and Hamburg for the event. Because of Covid's travel restrictions, three members of the US jury, producer Tony Visconti, singer Brody Dalle and engineer Darcy Proper couldn't travel to Germany to participate in the showcase on site. So we streamed their participation between the two cities for the live show. Here is a teaser featuring our judges:

A Soho penthouse provided 'TV studio space' and roof top backdrop with New York Skyline for the show. And while Covid measures didn't make production flow as easy as usual, it all worked out in the end. This was one of many LIVE streaming events we have produced over the years. Here's the full awards show with our NY segments:

The 5K Road Races

Our 5K Charity Run circuit (click this link for a clip) at film festivals worldwide is continuing at international stops: Next stop Berlin again, perhaps Cannes, New York, Toronto, and finally Santa Monica. Titled the Freeway-Pryor Cashman 5K Run produced by PPP these races bring film executives and local runners together to raise funds for a good cause, here a place for homeless housing in Santa Monica.
In time this event will get on the calendar at more festivals and with a bit of luck bring some famous runners as well.

Saint-Gobain's World Tour Stop in Philadelphia

When French glass maker Saint-Gobain's celebrated its 350th Anniversary with a World Tour exhibit and stop in Philadelphia, we were chosen to manage the entire production and site. Permitting & city coordination, architectural planning and engineering, crew staffing, setup flow, infrastructure support, power needs and a few last minute items, this was no small ticket... see a clip of the show in Shanghai:
Conceived by Paris agency FC2 and built in Czech by Nussli this event was well received by 100k plus visitors and a very happy Saint-Gobain USA team.

Heidi Klum sings 'Wonderland'

EPK in German about Heidi Klum's Christmas Song for Douglas Parfumeries in Europe. Heidi and her then husband Seal practiced a little song that ended up in the holiday campaign commercial. Martin directed, produced and photographed Heidi in an LA music studio for his old pals at SELECT, and was instructed to insure the song was properly 'put in the can' in one afternoon...!!

WhiteWall-Lumas at Javits Center

...for the PDN photo show at New York's Javits Convention Center. WhiteWall a printing, framing and artwork firm from Berlin/Cologne, born out of better known art company Lumas. With only two weeks planning time we pulled off the cross-Atlantic implementation of the idea. Large visuals worked well and almost like magnets drawing in visitors... giving proof to the popularity of the booth and confirming the important presence at this show.

A Little Sparrow's Big City World

Tiny sparrows in Manhattan? YES... in traffic light poles above road intersections! 20ft or 6m above the road. Take Empire State and 5th Avenue. For our friend director Kurt Mayer we produced here in NY. Shot worldwide in Beijing, Vienna, Paris, Moscow, Cairo and NY the entertaining film tells the story about the little guy's life & survival in the big city. A popular Festival contestant, enjoy the clip!

RIP...Peter Patzak, Kudos Chris Waltz

From the video vault with Oscar Winner Christoph Waltz the production of Ziegler Film's MOW 'Deadly Inheritance' aka 'Moederisches Erbe' directed by Vienna's Peter Patzak, who sadly passed away recently. We produced the New York segment:
For Waltz's Oscar win Patzak said: 'If anyone deserves the Oscar most...its Christoph! He's one of the hardest and most tirelessly working actors and always wants to get his character right!" Peter we will never forget you, your wit, house in Tuscany, chutzpah and cigarette cloud... and kudos to Chris for working on his next Oscar.

"Kinderblock 66"...a story about survival

Our film Kinderblock 66 is making great progress, with several recent film festival showings. Earlier in April during Liberation days the documentary was shown to a select audience of survivors in Buchenwald, Germany ...click below to play clip of German TV:
...and then invited to the Jerusalem Film Festival with all the producers and survivors attending. In the US, Kinderblock 66 has been shown on smaller festivals and just won 'Best Documentary' in Key West and in Philadelphia for Best Director 'Documentary'. A distribution agreement is secured, bringing the film officially to America. For current updates go to Kinderblock 66

Anna Sui Fashion Show Backstage

For long time client Interparfums and designer Anna Sui we went backstage for some intimate ‘pre-show’ & BTS footage. Armed with Leica lenses, we shot beautifully detailed material and blue hair... see for yourself!! Martin produced and filmed, David Neumann edited.

SIEMENS Exider, A worldwide show on rails!!

The first corporate exhibit to ever travel the entire planet in a train no less. A show for clients of Siemens Energy & Automation it arrived from China by way of Europe & Russia to North America. By AIR! Yes this train was flown into the country to Milwaukee's airport then brought to Chicago. It showed at McCormick Center's show floor first.
14 containers on flat-bed rail cars formed the self-powered trade show, with displays & product simulations, a lounge, 3D-movie theater and generator...all running on 220 Volts!
Stops in 16 cities around North America beginning in the Midwest, then East Coast going South to Mexico and finally the Western US and Canada. Also going undergound to New York's Grand Central!!
We researched locations around the country, negotiated with rail roads, signed numerous contracts, moved the train, built gravel roads along the track, staged opening events, hired greeters, stage hands, caterers, tents and display ...well ultimately managed this BIG endeavor. Our German client & crew of OSK kept the train humming and 'in shape'. Not your everyday project...but one for the books!

Shooting the VOID for Mercedes & Opel Cars

Scouting panorama, Ellis Island
NYC skyline from Ellis Island

...means producing images without a product 'on location'!
We did this for Opel Europe and Mercedes Benz. Like in Hollywood's special effects  the final image is CGI 'rendered' in a computer, here shooter & client
Computer generated interior
Tom Grammerstorf.
It all makes you believe the car is actually on a location.

Similarly we took to the streets of Manhattan, to film the 'VOID' behind a camera truck for a Mercedes-Benz E 550 film. The actual car was shot in a studio in Europe with the footage 'composited' later in a computer. What's most tricky while filming is to 'protect an empty space' behind the camera car from aggressive cabbies who want to take over the street right there! This is the VOID in the footage where the studio car will be 'dropped in' later in the compositing process. But see or yourself... doesn't the final film look like the car was traveling through New York City?
